WORKSHOP
RESILIENCE
IN THE FACE OF
DISTURBANCE
We work to help people raise consciousness and face their difficulties. This can lead to a change in perspective which in the short term adds resources. However, as script is deconstructed, deeper confrontation to defences occur and this change can feel disturbing. So, change can be experienced as disruptive, dysregulating, alongside being growthful, exciting and vitalising.
This workshops asks what is needed from the practitioner to support our clients to grow, evolve or even revolt without becoming too dysregulated? What social and psychological support do we need to bear in order to tolerate the disturbance of change?
We will explore examples of how disturbances can evoke greater consciousness or defensiveness at social and psychological levels. Thoughts about the conditions we need to bear and move with change will be discussed and shared amongst us.

WORKSHOP
OH, IT SEEMS I QUITE LIKE MY CLIENT,
OR RATHER I FEEL EMPATHETIC, HM,
OR DO I FEEL COMPASSION…?
Scientific research has revealed with all clarity (See Luborsky, Singer and Luborsky 1975, Paley and Lawton, 2001) that the quality of therapeutic relationship is key to therapy, where the relationship is "the primary motivational experience in human behaviour and contact is a means by which the need in relationships is satisfied (Erskine & Trautmann, 1996/1997).
"Two-person" therapy (М.Stark) presupposes a focus on the space emerging between the therapist and the client.
The masterclass will explore as part of an interactive and discussion process the notions of liking, empathy and compassion within the frameworks of philosophy and relational TA models. The masterclass is targeted at those who have completed the basic 101 course and above.
Elena Sergeyevna Soboleva, practical psychologist, СТА (Р), TSTA (P), living and working in Saint-Petersburg (Russian Federation) as well as participating in international TA programs.

RETURNING OF SOUL
OR RECOVERY OF THE
TRAUMATIZED SELF
Preface to MK: “Where’s my soul? … Put my soul in your clinical notes!” ( Mellacqua, 2016)
“I have my soul at heels” /folk saying/
From the concept of the soul, from attempts to understand its secret, the path of knowing the most mysterious in man begins.
For many centuries, starting from the ancient times of Aristotle, Plato and Heraclitus, the soul has been the subject of reflection and reasoning of philosophers.
Also, the concept of the Soul is often found in shamanistic traditions, where the physical body and physical health are seen as a consequence of spiritual health - "any disease is a consequence of a lost or stolen soul" (Forrest et al., 1932).
In my psychotherapeutic practice, unfortunately, I often hear the phrases: “something died in me”, “after death / loss ... I seemed to have lost a part of myself”, “since then I have been empty”.
“The reasons for the loss of a soul are diverse, ranging from the loss of a loved one, parting with a loved one and ending with a “ditching” in business” (Ingerman, 2001).
Through the research on various theories, I have looked for ways to help my clients regain what they have lost and meet their "central or true self" (Winnicott, 1960).
After all, when a person does not feel whole, then “the self can identify with an object, including an ego state (e.g., Berne’s Moving Self (1972)).
When the perceptual distortion that arises from identifying with an ego state occurs, it leads to suffering. Conversely, suffering can be alleviated by returning to identification with the state of going-on-being.” (Sandle, 2019).
In the workshop, I’d like to introduce my perspective and a few ways of work based on body therapy techniques and TA concepts.

LONELINESS AND/OR RELATIONSHIPS: A CONSCIOUS AND/OR UNCONSCIOUS CHOICE
Brief description: Each of us is born and feels life being alone with herself/himself, in contact with herself/himself, with loved ones, with the world. Every life story can be represented as a story of loneliness and/or a love story. How does that happen that someone lives a life of love, and someone suffers from ‘poignant’ loneliness? I offer the conference participants a small study of the very concepts of "loneliness" and "relationships" alongside the decisions that people make consciously and unconsciously.
Elena Khorina, psychologist, psychotherapist, member of USTA, candidate for CTA (psychotherapy), 16 years of working experience.
More about myself: I consider myself an explorer, a symbolic “pearl diver”. My experience is diverse: business, scientific and empirical activities.
In my experience it’s seen that everything starts with research. If it is carried out qualitatively, then subsequent work with structuring the results goes comfortably and harmoniously. Immersing into the topic "loneliness - relationships" I found a lot of interesting things. For example, contrasts: 1. People who consider themselves deeply lonely are more likely to be able to create long-term intimate relationships. 2. People who are constantly in a relationship sometimes do not know important things about themselves andtheir loved ones. These and other stories have motivated me to look for answers to questions.

WORKSHOP
LIFE SCRIPT. EXPLORING LIFE SCRIPT CREATIVELY USING FAVORITE FAIRY TALES
The original script theory was developed by Eric Berne and his colleagues. Berne suggested we could use a favorite fairy tale to explore ours and our clients script.
According to the theory of TA, a life script is drawn up by the child in the form of a story with a designated beginning, middle and end.
To the child who made the story, this can feel like a completed process and plan for life. People then often live out these plans creating their own reality for themselves as they go.
Based on these theories, Nataliia and her colleagues have developed a useful questionnaire and a practical way of applying these ideas with a range of clients and groups.
This can be used within a clear contract for relationship to enhance the clients insight and awareness and give the practitioner useful information for diagnosis and treatment.
In this workshop, will present this theory and invite you to choose a favourite fairy tale or story that has significance to you. We will use this story to work through the questionnaire providing each participant with their own results and a rich opportunity to gain understanding of the unconscious process of your own script, along with the ability to change this if you want to.

ICD-11:
WHAT’S NEW AND WHAT IMPACT IT WILL HAVE ON PRACTICE
On January 1, 2022, the International Classification of Diseases of the 11th revision, which the WHO had been developing for five years, came into effect. Five years of research, discussions and decisions of the global medical community culminated in the publication of the new standard paradigm in the classification of diseases and disorders. In my workshop I will give an overview of the significant innovations and changes in the section on mental disorders, as well as share some ideas on how this might influence the practice of providing psychological help. The changes have touched many clusters of disorders including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, developmental disorders and personality disorders, so professionals from a variety of backgrounds will benefit from the workshop.

MONEY IN ORGANIZATIONAL SCRIPTS CONTEXT
Money in the modern world is an important component of life. And if at first it was a purely economic phenomenon, then with the development of society money acquired social and psychological characteristics. Money gradually penetrated into all spheres of social life, began to influence the economics, culture, politics and consciousness of people.
Psychologists have reached the conclusion - nowadays the attitude towards money is an important component of the economic consciousness and economic self-determination of an individual, it imacts the behavior and internal psychological state of a person.
Organizations are not created by accident, there are always people who take a leader’s role and invites others to unite in order to achieve certain goals. They, like others, have their own formed economic consciousness and attitude towards money.
Transactional analysts consider the influence of the life scripts of the founders of organizations on the formation of scripts of organizations and organizational culture.
At the workshop, we will look at organizational script theory and analyze the meaning of money in an organizational context.

WORKSHOP
MINDFULNESS PRACTICES TO STRENGTHEN THE ADULT
One of the unique human qualities is the ability to be aware of one's life and be fully present in it with wisdom and inclusion. In other words, being in the Adult ego-state and truly experiencing life from there.
Even Eric Berne pointed out awareness among the main qualities of autonomy, - the ability to see, hear, feel, taste and smell things as sensory impressions.
The good news is that the skill of mindful presence in life can be developed using specific mindfulness practices. Regular application of mindfulness practices in everyday life helps to strengthen the Adult and improve the quality of all areas of life.
At the workshop we will learn about two modes of our brain - autopilot and awareness, their differences and functions; we’ll discuss what mindfulness is, from the point of view of modern science, its’ advantages and qualities; we’ll get acquainted with the formal and informal practices of mindfulness and the peculiarities of their use to strengthen the position of the Adult.
Mindfulness is not about “how to be in a trend”, but about “how to be an Adult for real”!

USING CORE QUALITIES FOR BEHAVIOURAL DIAGNOSIS
Fields: all fields
In “The Structure And Dynamics Of Organizations And Groups”, Berne (1963) wrote that the diagnosis of ego states is complete when it can be supported from four different viewpoints: behavioural, social, subjective and historical. Behavioural diagnosis is a logical starting point in the process of diagnosis, and within our TA-world some methodologies are available to get a good insight in behaviour. In this workshop I provide an additional and probably unknown instrument based on core qualities. With this instrument you are able to get a thorough insight in behaviour. Although this instrument is not a typical TA-instrument, it can be connected to several TA-concepts.

AUTONOMY IS THE PATH TO CONSTRUCTIVE ADULTING
Each person goes through stages of development, becoming an adult, and, at some point, faces various age restrictions.
The result is disbalance, stress, and increased anxiety. This is especially true for adults who are prone to symbiotic relationships.
Therefore, an important resource for activating Physis for optimal coping with challenges is Autonomy.
An autonomous person feels Active, Courageous and Resilient for a longer time.
At the master class, we will analyze the list of age restrictions (problems) and, based on the Co-creative TA, we will create solutions related to Autonomy.

FAMILY SYSTEM AS A RESOURCE
Practical experience shows that it is much more effective to work with the requests of parents and children through the family system, which is a resource in itself.
At the workshop, you will learn how to use the classical theory of functional ego states and the family system in work with parents, children, and partners. We also invite you to “get acquainted” with the Nurturing Parent of relationships, explore how it manifests itself and what is its resource.
We will consider in detail the model of the family system with the participation of the therapist and the formation of the Nurturing Parent of the relationship. We will talk about how to work with children who were born with the help of the IVF method (in the context of the formation of a Nurturing Parent). There will definitely be a practical part, which includes an exercise and examples from practice.

WORKSHOP
PSYCHOTHERAPY OF ATTACHMENT
Relationships are a key need of a human to be in contact with others. The first experience gained in relationships with caring adults we transfer to any other relationship. Attachment comes with a person to the therapy room, and we dance this dance together. If the therapist is aware of the person's need for a reliable secure attachment, then they lead this dance as if they sent a message "I am a support for you", after which the therapeutic alliance and the psychotherapeutic work itself are built.
I invite you within the workshop to learn more about how this mechanism works with examples, learn a little more about your attachment patterns and feel the theory of attachment in practice.

Psychologist, psychotherapist, member of USTA, candidate for CTA (psychotherapy), member of the International Association for Integrative Psychotherapy, trainer of the NGO «INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE”.
I lead the practice in the TA method and integrative psychotherapy with a focus on relationships.
Extended info: I balance between the roles of mother, wife and professional who loves her vocation, and, in my opinion, I'm good at it. Once in personal therapy, I realized that I faced myself through a relationship with a therapist, and only then I was able to build a relationship with a partner, and now be and develop in it. This determined my area of interest. I build my life, practice, work with clients through relationships. I invite you to the world of relationships that fill, develop and add different colors to life.

ANALYSIS OF THE THERAPIST’S UNCONSCIOUS HISTORY WITHIN THE PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC PROCESS
In the therapy room, we may witness a formation of a relationship in which two unique unconscious stories intersect - the therapist’s and the client’s ones, the place for transference and countertransference to arise.
Working through the transference is a prerequisite for structural change. In order to understand the depth of the client's unconscious processes, for therapists it is important to explore and understand the depth of their own history.
Therapists also have their own scripts, psychological defenses, and fears of intimacy, which can lead to acting out in working with clients. By exploring the depth of our script, we can help clients connect with their innermost experiences and gain new relationship experiences by replenishing the internal deficiencies.
I will present the model of the Relational approach, options for analyzing one's own countertransference, and talk about examples from private practice.

SMILING IN THE THERAPY SESSION – WHAT DOES A SMILE MEAN FOR CONTACT BETWEEN CLIENT AND THERAPIST?
In human communication the smile is an interesting and common transaction. Often a smile is not in the awareness of the client (nor the therapist). It can be a very subtle form of communication that at times can have quite an impact on the client and the outcome of therapy. A smile allows the person to communicate an array of information.
When a client smiles what is happening psychologically? There are a number of possibilities for what the client is doing when they smile. Then of course the therapist can smile as well and what does that mean psychologically for them and for the client to see the therapist smile?
This session will discuss and analyse these questions and seek to provide some answers.

INTERRUPTION OF CONTACT IN PSYCHOTHERAPY
Most often, we consider interruptions of contact in terms of the therapeutic alliance, crossed transactions, and the phenomenon of transference.
Today I propose to consider interruption of contact in psychotherapy by the psychotherapist. When the client decided to stop working and you said goodbye, did you ever feel like the relationship was broken? Have you ever missed your “favorite” client? When working in the method of relationship, we inevitably become involved, sincerely participate in therapy, use “ourselves”. At the workshop we will explore what happens to us after the completion of the work? What about our relationship needs?

EXPERIENCE IN TA APPLICATION IN PSYCHOLOGICAL EDUCATION AT SCHOOL
The modern realities of the fragile (Brittle), disturbing (Anxious), non-linear (Nonlinear) and immense (Incomprehensible) BANI-world demonstrate the importance of educating a new generation capable of being conscious and stable, thinking critically and forming themselves, building trusting relationships with themselves and others.
Polls show that children leave school with school diplomas and certificates, but they are not ready for a complex and dynamic life, with its challenges and tasks. Which once again proves the importance of psychological education for students, especially for teenagers.
Such education should offer adolescents relevant knowledge regarding the features of the formation and development of their identity, provide with proven and effective tools for learning themself, building conscious relationships with themselfs and others.
Unfortunately, in Ukraine there has not yet been a comprehensive program that allows children to master the tools that could be used in different life situations, and be seen as a support for a feeling of inner stability, the development of self-understanding and autonomy.
Therefore, for the last two and a half years, we at the Galileo Lyceum (Irpen) have been working on the creation and implementation of such a program. It is built on philosophy and using the concepts and tools of transactional analysis.
TA is applied in the educational system of European countries, as well as in the education systems of the USA and Canada. This has not yet happened in Ukraine.
With great joy at the workshop we will:
The workshop will be useful to practical psychologists working in educational institutions, psychotherapists working with adolescents individually and in groups, heads of secondary education institutions, and everyone who is not indifferent to the psychological education of schoolchildren and their future.

COCREATIVE CONTRACTING
AS A RESOURCE
FOR LEARNING
Short description: “If things go wrong, they go wrong at the beginning!"
We all know contracting is important. In fact, it’s a key concept in Transactional Analysis. To negotiate a common goal and way towards it is important. To do this in a way that supports the own responsibility of the consultant, coach, therapist and the client in a OK way underpins the philosophy of TA. Cocreative contracting supports a “togetherness” in working towards a goal. Autonomy strives to find the personal OK-ness in the phrase: “I am.” Homonomy strives to find a shared OK-ness with the corresponding phrase: “We are."
In this workshop about cocreative contracting, we will learn together about the homonomy in contracting. The learning through a cocreative contract is for everyone in the room. As a trainer, consultant, therapist, it permits you to be human and not a perfect professional. How great is that? As a client, it permits your openness, vulnerability and own responsibility of your learning. How phantastic is that?
So… let’s cocreate! I think it’s a big resource for much learning!
